(From September / October Deacon Digest, by Deacon Thomas J. DiCanio)
For Catholics, Sunday is the time to prepare and practice for how we live our lives.
What are the life lessons we practice on Sunday?
* Remember that we are visitors here on earth. Our stay is short and the moment of our departure is unknown.
* No one can live without work that provides for our needs. If we work without rest, fatigue will overtake us and we'll be denied the joy that comes from labor's end.
*Speak quietly, and kindly without pushing opinions, if we talk too much, we will be deaf to what others say.
*Be near when help is needed, but far when thanks and praise are being offered.
*Take small account of might and wealth for they soon pass and are fogotten. Nurture love from within and try to be a friend to all.
*Treasure silence when you find it, set aside time for quite reflection.
*Not all values are equal and without morality, values mean nothing.
*Life is cause and effect; sooner or later we face the consequences.
*Avoid self deception, we must see ourselves as we really are. It takes years to build a reputation but only an instant to lose it.
*Be strong and walk on with Jesus.
